Rusty Wheelbarrow

I found an old, rusted wheelbarrow that needed a new tire. I brought it home, took it apart, sanded it down, painted it, and put it back together with a new wheel.
As I worked, God reminded me of something: I don’t “paint” my life with His laws and direction just to look good on the outside. I do it so I can withstand the mess this world will throw at me. I do it so I won’t absorb every storm that comes.

God’s people face hardships just like everyone else. The difference is in what carries the weight.

That old tire couldn’t hold anything—it buckled under pressure. And life is full of heavy burdens. But when you replace the weight-bearing center with God instead of the world, something changes. You begin to see that you’re not the one holding the load of all the mess…He is.
